Muizenberg
R150 / Per Person
Muizenberg in its heyday was a premier holiday resort frequented by the likes of Agatha Christie, George Bernard Shaw, Cecil Rhodes and other high society of the British Empire. Jewish immigrants from Latvia and Lithuania made the little town their own and it flourished. Stories cover shark attacks, Art Deco architecture, the close relationship to the British Empire, and early powered flight in South Africa. Later we cover the extraordinary legend of the Moslem pioneer perhaps buried here, perhaps not. And then the big one, the Battle of Muizenberg in 1795 which like the butterfly’s wings changed the course of world history.
